How to Use a Makeup Sponge
The sponge can last for months if you clean and use them properly. Make sure soak up water first, so the sponge will not soak up your makeup so that you don’t put to much on your skin. The sponge feathers and blots away the excess makeup so that it is blended on your face and makes it look like you aren’t wearing any at all.
The point of wearing makeup on your face is to make your skin look like it doesn’t have any blemishes on it. The sponge can do this for you. You can also use the makeup sponge with powder makeup for a natural look to your skin. To do this though you will need to dampen the sponge before putting it on the powder makeup.
As far as the size goes, larger and more rounded sponges are good for larger areas on your face. Smaller sizes that are squared off are good for smaller corners of your skin or where you are trying to hide blemishes.
For good results, a wet sponge should be used because the water can smooth out the makeup on your face. For liquid makeup, put a small amount of makeup on the back of your hand and then dab a little bit onto the sponge and start applying it onto your face. Don’t drag or swipe the sponge on your face as this will not look very good. You should use a stippling motion and continue to dab so that it is covered all over your face. Add the foundation a little bit at a time until the makeup looks smooth and even on your face. Then use the sponge again without it having anything on it to blend everything together.
If you have skin that causes problems such as blemishes, there are makeup sponges that can help you. Some have a pointed end that can be used to cover the blemishes up. Simply work the makeup up into the depressed areas of your face. You will get a nice finish once done.
So try using a makeup sponge when applying makeup to your face. Doing the stippling and dabbing motion will do wonders for your face.
